CP OJAJUNI MOVES TO BOOST CAMPUS SAFETY, ANNOUNCES NEW POLICE POST AT OOU IBOGUN

The Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ibogun Campus, was a focal point for security as the Commissioner of Police Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni paid a strategic visit to assess the situation and engage key stakeholders. The visit brought together school authorities, traditional leadership including the Olu of Ibogun- Sowumi, Oba Timothy Sowumi and students, all of whom shared concerns and ideas on improving safety within the campus and surrounding community.

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the visit was described as a proactive step toward strengthening campus security through collaboration, intelligence sharing and community engagement. The statement noted that discussions with the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ayodeji Johnson Agboola and other stakeholders focused on practical solutions to ensure a safer academic environment.

In the CP’s delegation were the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, DCP Bolanle Muritala, and the Area Commander, Ifo, ACP Seyi Williams. Upon arrival, the CP held a strategic engagement with the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ayodeji Johnson Agboola; the Provost, College of Engineering and Environmental Sciences (CEES), Professor Bashir Olufemi Odufuwa; His Royal Highness, Oba Timothy Sowumi, the Olu of Ibogun-Sowumi; as well as principal officers of the institution and community leaders.

The Commissioner reassured participants that the Command has already assessed the situation and will ramp up patrols, visibility and proactive policing around the university area. He announced plans to establish a police presence within the university community to improve response time and deepen community policing efforts. He also emphasized closer collaboration with sister agencies such as the NSCDC, Amotekun Corps and So-Safe Corps.

The CP also inspected the Ibogun Divisional Police Headquarters, engaging officers and reinforcing the need for efficiency and readiness.
He lay emphasis on stronger partnerships, smarter policing and a shared commitment to keeping students, staff and residents of Ogun State safe.
