NAVY HOLDINGS OPERATIONS DIRECTOR NOT INVOLVED IN ILLEGAL CONTRACT AWARDS

BY JENNIFER NWOSU

The Nigerian Navy has refuted an allegation of misappropriation to probe the executive director, operations of Navy Holdings Limited, Commodore Gabriel Sunday Martins Aligwe, for abuse of office and violating public rules.

This comes on the tail of some online malicious publication making the rounds that the EFCC, ICPC, The Chief Of Defence Staff and the Chief Of Naval should have the operation director probed.

In a released statement by the Group Public Relations Officer of Navy Holdings, Commander Blessed Nuhu, he said that a new management team took over barely two months ago and no contracts have been issued as the new management is renegotiating old contracts and developers whose contracts have expired, are waiting for new contracts to be established.

He emphasized the position of the Navy Holdings Limited as a registered company with the Corporate Affairs Commission.

Thus, the  operations of Navy Holding Limited, is fully guided by the provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020 and other regulatory provisions. The Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer is responsible to a Board of Directors for the implementation of policies and decisions of the Board. In that case, no Director or any individual has the authority over award of contracts without the approval of the Board. Therefore, members of the public are requested to disregard the online publication.
