The  Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT, in latest development of the commands mandate to keep coastal areas in Lagos State safe and secure, have released details of activities in the command.

Speaking at a press briefing at the commands' headquarters, Commodore Kolawale Oguntuga, highly commended the efforts of the personnel of the command in their patrols and keen insight in spotting out criminal activities on the water ways.

There was swoop down on  some illegal oil bunkering activities, and in the process they recovered refined petroleum products which were intended to be smuggled out of  Nigerian waters into Neighbouring Countries for sale.

Commodore Oguntuga, spoke against the spate of  illegal bunkering activities because as he said, it is robbing the nation and the citizens of economic revenue and access to these products.

He described it as draining on the economy, Nigerians and quite dangerous on handling highly inflammable products without safety measures. He made a call to Nigerians to avoid open scooping of petroleum products as it is a sure path to danger and not the best means to stay above economic challenges.

Commodore Oguntuga said that under the leadership of the Chief Of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, the continuous strive for maritime safety and preparedness for defending the nation's assets especially on Nigerian waters, would be carried out effectively.
