WAEC DISCLAIMS PUBLICATION ON AWARD OF BEST PERFORMANCE IN EXAMS TO ABIA STATE

WAEC DISCLAIMS PUBLICATION ON AWARD OF BEST PERFORMANCE IN EXAMS TO ABIA STATE

BY JENNIFER NWOSU

The West African Examinations Council( WAEC)  has debunked claims of ranking  Abia State as the best-performing State in the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2023, in Nigeria.

The council said that some mischievous and misleading reports surfaced on social media, attributing that WAEC had awarded the best performance in States overall to Abia state, which the body has never done and has stated categorically over time, that there is no ranking of performance based on states but rather, on individual candidates.

WAEC strongly condemns in no small means,  the false media publications in circulation information as the intent of such publication is to have the council entangled in politics which is not a core mandate of the council.

The Council hereby distances itself from the false publication and appeals to the  general public to ignore such as well.

The West African Examination Council would not allow the  good name of the body to be dragged in  disrepute especially with the intention to cause disharmony among the states competing for superiority.

Furthermore, the Council has not decided on the best candidate(s) for WASSCE for School Candidates, 2023. Any report to the contrary should be disregarded.
The general public  has been advised to please take note on these developments.
