Lagos came alive on May 2nd as the highly anticipated GTCO Food and Drink Festival 2025 opened its doors at the GTCentre, Victoria Island. The event brought together a lively mix of food lovers, acclaimed chefs, families, and culinary professionals in a spirited celebration of global flavors, creativity, and food culture.
From the very first moment, the festival delivered a unique blend of entertainment and education.

The venue buzzed with energy as international culinary stars and aspiring chefs connected over a shared love of good food, innovative techniques, and cultural storytelling through cuisine.

One of the standout highlights from the opening day was a vibrant children’s masterclass led by Chef Christian Duhalde, a Chilean-born culinary maestro and the creative mind behind La Taverna—a Lagos-based restaurant renowned for its Spanish and Latin American flair.
With nearly three decades of international culinary experience across Latin America, Europe, Oceania, and Africa, Chef Duhalde brought his expertise and warmth to a hands-on pizza-making session designed especially for kids.

He guided young participants through every step, showing how simple ingredients can be transformed into delicious works of art.

Speaking during the session, Duhalde shared his belief in the power of early exposure to cooking. “When children enter the kitchen from a young age, they absorb each moment. It nurtures passion, sparks creativity, and can even shape their future careers,” he explained, drawing parallels with his own culinary journey that began in childhood.

Chef Duhalde is no stranger to Nigeria’s food scene. For over 12 years, he has built a stellar reputation, serving up distinctive dishes at La Taverna and curating high-end private dining experiences, including events at Nigeria’s Presidential Villa, Aso Rock. His cooking philosophy is a harmonious blend of international techniques and local Nigerian ingredients, resulting in dishes that resonate with both taste and meaning.

This year’s GTCO Food and Drink Festival goes beyond the plate. With a packed schedule of masterclasses, wellness discussions, cultural tastings, and cutting-edge culinary showcases, the event offers an immersive experience for everyone—from casual foodies to seasoned professionals.

As the festival continues in the days ahead, it promises not only a sensory feast but also a platform for learning, inspiration, and meaningful connections within the global food ecosystem.

Whether you're a curious palate or a seasoned chef, the GTCO Food and Drink Festival 2025 is more than just a food event—it's a celebration of the art, science, and soul of cooking.
