The newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, has outlined a firm commitment to discipline, professionalism and public-centered policing in his maiden press briefing held at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

In a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the Commissioner expressed deep appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, for the confidence reposed in him to lead the Command. He aligned his administration with the Force’s policy direction, emphasizing that citizens remain the central focus of policing efforts.
Ojajuni highlighted that the Nigeria Police Force under the current leadership operates on a principle that places citizens as the ultimate authority, a doctrine he pledged to uphold throughout his tenure in Ogun State. He stressed that the directives of the Inspector-General include zero tolerance for abuse of office, indiscipline, incivility, human rights violations and corruption, noting that these principles would be implemented strictly and without compromise.

The Commissioner reaffirmed that discipline remains the bedrock of the Force, making it clear that any form of misconduct among officers would not be tolerated. He emphasized that professionalism, respect for human dignity and adherence to the rule of law must define the conduct of all personnel within the Command.
Ojajuni also called for improved relations between the police and the public, urging officers to treat citizens with dignity and respect while encouraging members of the public to reciprocate with civility. He noted that effective policing depends on cooperation and mutual understanding between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.

As part of efforts to strengthen accountability, the Commissioner disclosed that the Command’s Complaint Response Unit (CRU) would be reinforced as a major channel for reporting misconduct. He added that the unit remains accessible through telephone lines and digital platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
He further revealed that the Gateway Shield App and the Command’s Control Room would continue to operate round-the-clock to receive complaints, intelligence and other relevant information from the public in real time. These platforms, he said, are designed to enhance transparency, responsiveness and trust in policing.

Internally, Ojajuni stated that the X-Squad and the Police Monitoring Unit would be strengthened to ensure strict discipline and professional conduct among officers. He maintained that no officer found wanting would be shielded, stressing that erring personnel would be held accountable.

The Commissioner underscored that the activities of a few individuals would not be allowed to tarnish the image of the Force, encouraging both officers and residents to remain vigilant and report any form of wrongdoing through appropriate channels.
On security, Ojajuni assured residents that the safety of lives and property remains his top priority. He pledged to adopt proactive policing strategies aimed at sustaining peace and ensuring a secure environment across Ogun State.

He also emphasized inclusivity in his administration, noting that collaboration with traditional rulers, community leaders, the media and other security agencies would be strengthened to achieve lasting security outcomes.
Ojajuni reiterated that fairness, justice and equity would guide all operational decisions, while calling on members of the public to support the police with timely and credible information to combat crime effectively.

Addressing officers of the Command, he charged them to demonstrate renewed commitment, discipline, and unity in carrying out their duties. He assured personnel that their welfare would receive priority attention under his leadership.

The Commissioner concluded by affirming his commitment to sustaining peace and ensuring continued security across Ogun State, while expressing readiness to work collaboratively with all stakeholders toward achieving these goals.
