OGUN POLICE DISPERSE AGITATED STUDENTS AT ORU- IJEBU DIVISION, SAY NO DETENTION OCCURRED

The Ogun State Police Command has clarified circumstances surrounding a disturbance at the Oru-Ijebu Police Division on Saturday, March 28th, 2026, involving a group of students 
who alleged that some of their colleagues were being detained.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the Command said the Divisional Police Officer in Oru-Ijebu confirmed that no student was in custody at the station at the time of the incident.

According to the police, the students became agitated and forcefully breached the station gate, throwing stones and bottles, while posing a threat to personnel and property. Reinforcements were subsequently deployed and teargas was used to disperse the crowd.

The Command noted that normalcy has since been restored in the area, with no further escalation reported.
While urging calm, the police advised members of the public, particularly students, to channel grievances through lawful and peaceful means.

The Command also reaffirmed its' commitment to professionalism and the protection of lives and property across the state.
