The Ogun State Police Command has announced a four-day programme of activities to mark the 2026 National Police Day, with a focus on strengthening ties between the police and the public. This year’s theme, “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” highlights the importance of collaboration in ensuring safety and security across the state.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the Command said the celebration, led by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, is dedicated to fallen heroes, serving and retired officers, as well as stakeholders and residents who continue to support the work of the police.

Activities will begin on Monday, March 30th, with a medical outreach at Iwe-Iroyin, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, alongside an environmental sanitation exercise across police formations in partnership with community stakeholders.

On Tuesday, March 31st, a statewide walkathon will take place simultaneously from the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, and across area commands and divisions. The exercise is scheduled to begin at 6:00 a.m, with members of the public encouraged to participate.

The third day, Wednesday, April 1st, will feature sensitization campaigns across the state. These will focus on preventing electoral violence, discouraging ballot snatching and promoting safe driving practices among motorists.

The programme will conclude on Thursday, April 2nd, with a welfare presentation of cheques by the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, to families of deceased officers in recognition of their service and sacrifice.

The Command has called on community leaders, youth and women groups and residents across the state to actively participate in the activities as a show of support and shared commitment to public safety.
