In the wake of the abduction of the Sapele Local Government Area Chairman, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, undertook an on-the-ground assessment of the crime scene and surrounding areas, signaling a heightened urgency in the state’s response to the incident. The visit, marked by a methodical inspection of key locations, underscored the command’s commitment to securing the victim’s safe return amid growing public concern.

In a statement released by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the command reaffirmed its resolve, noting that the Commissioner of Police has personally led operational assessments in Sapele, visiting critical locations linked to the incident as part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safe and unharmed rescue of the abducted chairman. The statement further emphasized that coordinated intelligence and tactical deployments were already underway.

The commissioner’s visit included a stop at Debro Fred Guest House, where the abduction reportedly took place. There, he sought clarity on the sequence of events, engaging officers and reviewing preliminary findings. He also proceeded to Ogorode Waterside, the site where a vehicle believed to have been used by the perpetrators was recovered, a development that authorities consider significant for both forensic analysis and intelligence gathering.
Beyond the operational focus, CP Oyeniyi’s visit carried a human dimension. He met with the chairman’s wife, offering assurances that all necessary resources were being mobilized for a safe rescue. He also visited medical facilities treating individuals injured during the attack, reinforcing the command’s concern for those affected by the violence.
Police officials say the operation is being conducted in collaboration with other security agencies, with efforts concentrated on actionable intelligence.

Residents have been urged to remain alert and to report any information that could aid the investigation, as authorities stress that community cooperation remains essential in confronting the region’s persistent security challenges.

While no arrests have been announced, the Delta State Police Command has reiterated its' commitment to bringing those responsible to justice, framing the incident as a test of both its operational capacity and its' promise to safeguard lives and property.
