A late night police operation in Ilaro, Ogun State, has led to the arrest of four suspected cultists linked to a case of assault and robbery, as authorities continue to tighten the net on violent crime. The suspects; Samson John, 25; Olufowora Michael, 28; Odeh Samuel Ejeh, 25; and Olajide Jeremiah, 28, were apprehended following a report filed by a victim who alleged a coordinated attack at his residence.

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, operatives of the Ilaro Division responded swiftly to the complaint, which detailed how the suspects, alongside others still at large, allegedly stormed the victim’s home earlier in the day, assaulted him, and made away with his mobile phone.
The statement noted that prompt investigation and follow-up action led to the arrest of the four suspects and recovery of key evidence.

Police said the incident was reported on April 16th, 2026, around 11:30 p.m, with the victim stating the attack had occurred hours earlier at about 1 p.m. During the operation, officers recovered a locally made pistol, an axe, suspected charms and the stolen iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The suspects are currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the group who fled. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni commended the operatives for their quick response, reiterating the Command’s zero tolerance for cultism and violent crimes and assuring residents of continued efforts to maintain safety across the state.
