OGUN POLICE CLARIFY VIRAL IJEBU-IGBO KIDNAP ARREST VIDEO AS OLD FOOTAGE
The Ogun State Police Command has clarified that a viral video currently making the rounds online, showing the arrest of suspected kidnappers in Ijebu-Igbo, is not a recent incident but footage originally recorded in 2024.
According to the Command, the resurfaced clip has been circulated with misleading captions capable of causing unnecessary panic and confusion among residents. Police authorities advised members of the public to be cautious about sharing unverified information, especially on social media platforms where old videos are often reposted as current events.
The clarification comes amid growing concerns over misinformation and recycled security related content online. The Command stressed the importance of relying on verified sources and official communication channels for accurate updates on security matters in Ogun State.
Residents were also encouraged to fact-check sensational claims before reposting them, noting that responsible information sharing plays a key role in maintaining public calm and preventing the spread of false narratives.
