A coordinated police operation across Itele, Ota and Sango-Ota has led to the arrest of two suspected members of an armed robbery and vehicle snatching syndicate, with officers recovering three stolen vehicles, live ammunition and several other items believed to be linked to criminal activity.

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, operatives from the Ifo and Sango Divisions carried out intelligence-led operations on May 10 and 11, 2026, resulting in the arrest of Mohammed Adeniyi Usman, also known as “Mandela,” and Abiodun Ogunojukan, popularly called “Ilasa.” The statement noted that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle organized robbery and vehicle theft networks operating within Ogun State and neighboring areas.

Police detectives reportedly stormed a hideout in the Adeleye Area of Itele, where they recovered a Toyota Corolla, a Toyota Venza allegedly stolen at gunpoint in Abeokuta on April 26 and a Honda Crosstour earlier snatched during a robbery incident in Ijoko.
Usman was arrested around 10:35 p.m. after officers laid an ambush around the location. Follow-up operations the next day led to Ogunojukan’s arrest beneath the Sango-Ota Bridge, where investigators say he provided useful information that could help track down other members of the syndicate and recover more stolen vehicles.

Recovered during the operation were two live cartridges, foreign currencies, a So-Safe Corps uniform, an MP3 sound system and a plasma television set.
The case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers involved for what he described as professionalism and swift operational response. He also encouraged residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible information.

Members of the public can reach the Ogun State Police Command through the emergency lines: 0800 000 9111, 0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706, 0915 102 7369 and 0708 497 2994.
