OJUDE OBA FESTIVAL GETS MAJOR SECURITY BOOST AS OGUN POLICE ROLL OUT TACTICAL TEAMS

The Ogun State Police Command says it is leaving nothing to chance ahead of the 2026 Ojude Oba Festival, announcing a massive security deployment across Ijebu Ode and surrounding communities to ensure residents and visitors enjoy a peaceful celebration.

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the Command disclosed that Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has approved the deployment of more than 2,500 police personnel alongside Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), surveillance teams, rapid response squads, undercover operatives and tactical units for the annual cultural event.

According to the statement, the operation will feature officers from the Police Mobile Force (PMF), SWAT, Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD-CBRN), Monitoring Unit, Force Intelligence Department, Motor Traffic Department (MTD) and other specialized units.

The Command said security personnel will be strategically stationed at the Ojude Oba Pavilion, major highways, entry and exit routes, hotels, worship centres, recreational spots, markets, motor parks and other busy public locations expected to witness heavy traffic during the festivities.

Police authorities added that the operation is designed to support crowd control, traffic management, intelligence-led policing, anti-crime patrols and rapid emergency response throughout the festival period. Special monitoring will also cover strategic routes including the Sagamu Interchange, Ijebu Ode–Benin Expressway, Molipa axis and nearby communities.

CP Bode Ojajuni directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders to maintain maximum alertness while working closely with traditional rulers, transport unions, event organizers and community leaders to ensure smooth coordination and security coverage.

The Command also warned criminal elements to stay away from Ogun State during the celebrations, assuring residents and visitors that law enforcement agencies are fully prepared to respond decisively to any security threat.
