ARREST IN IJEBU-ODE OPENS NEW LEAD IN EDO STATE HOSTAGE MURDER INVESTIGATION

A major breakthrough has emerged in an ongoing security investigation in Ogun State after police linked two suspects arrested in Ijebu-Ode to a kidnapping and murder case in neighboring Edo State.

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the Command disclosed that intelligence-led investigations by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit revealed that the suspects, identified as Gafaru Adamu, 25 and Muhammed Sanni, 20, are wanted in connection with a kidnapping incident in the Okada area of Edo State, where two hostages were reportedly murdered.

The suspects were initially apprehended by personnel of the Nigeria Forest Security Service in the Atiba area of Ijebu-Ode on June 4th and subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation. What began as a routine inquiry quickly developed into a wider inter-state criminal investigation.

According to police findings, the duo is believed to be part of a seven-member kidnapping syndicate linked to the Edo State case. During a search and investigation, operatives recovered a pair of police camouflage uniform and three mobile phones, all of which have been documented as exhibits.

Given that the alleged crimes occurred in Edo State, the Ogun State Police Command confirmed that the suspects and all recovered items will be transferred to the Edo State Police Command, which has jurisdiction over the matter, for further investigation and legal action.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni commended the professionalism and diligence of the operatives involved, noting that Ogun State will not be allowed to serve as a safe haven for criminal elements.
The Command reassured residents of its commitment to intelligence-driven policing and urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies.
