DIG FAYOADE CHARTS FRESH SECURITY COURSE FOR OGUN STATE

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the South-West and Information and Communication Technology, DIG Adegoke Mustapha Fayoade, has reinforced the Nigeria Police Force's growing emphasis on intelligence-led policing, digital innovation and stronger community partnerships.


The strategic working visit, undertaken on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reflected a broad security agenda that reached beyond the walls of police formations. Accompanied by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 Headquarters, AIG Olohundare Jimoh Moshood, the delegation was received at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni and members of the Command's management team before embarking on a series of high-level engagements across the state.

The visit opened with an interactive stakeholders' forum at the POWA Hall, bringing together representatives of the Ogun State Government, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, labour and transport unions, professional associations, the Police Community Relations Committee, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, the National Human Rights Commission and an array of sister security agencies including the Nigerian Army, DSS, NSCDC, FRSC, NDLEA, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigerian Correctional Service, Amotekun Corps, So-Safe Corps and TRACE.

DIG Fayoade highlighted the importance of shared responsibility in tackling security challenges, encouraging closer collaboration between the Police, traditional institutions, government agencies and local communities while calling for timely intelligence from residents and sustained grassroots engagement by Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers.

The visit also provided an opportunity to engage directly with officers and men of the Ogun State Police Command. Personnel were commended for their service and encouraged to uphold professionalism, discipline, accountability, respect for human rights and ethical policing, while embracing the evolving demands of modern law enforcement.

At the Government House, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Ogun State Government, where the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, received the team on behalf of Governor Dapo Abiodun. The meeting reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between the state government and the Nigeria Police Force in promoting public safety and maintaining a secure environment for residents and investors alike.

The delegation also visited the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, recognising the enduring role of traditional institutions in conflict resolution, community engagement and intelligence gathering; an increasingly valuable component of contemporary policing.

As the officer overseeing the Force's ICT portfolio, DIG Fayoade concluded his itinerary at the Police College of Information and Technology, Kobape, Abeokuta. There, he interacted with management, instructors and course participants, applauding the institution's contribution to developing technologically proficient police personnel and advancing the Force's digital transformation agenda.

The Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni described the visit as both timely and impactful, expressing appreciation for the strategic guidance provided by the visiting senior officers. He reaffirmed the Ogun State Police Command's commitment to professionalism, integrity, accountability and collaboration with government, traditional institutions, security agencies and the wider community in safeguarding lives and property.
