OGUN POLICE DEBUNK VIRAL VIDEO, SAY FOOTAGE IS FROM 2024, NOT A RECENT INCIDENT

The Ogun State Police Command has moved to calm public concerns following the circulation of a viral video on social media that is being falsely presented as a recent security incident in the state.

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the Command clarified that the footage is not recent and actually relates to an incident that occurred in 2024. According to the statement, the video is being deliberately recirculated with misleading captions capable of creating unnecessary fear and a false impression about the current security situation in Ogun State.

Police authorities urged residents to ignore the video and avoid sharing unverified security related content online. The Command noted that the spread of outdated and misleading materials can trigger unnecessary panic and undermine the efforts of security agencies working to maintain peace, public safety and order.

Reassuring residents, the Command emphasized that Ogun State remains peaceful, safe and secure, with security personnel continuing to carry out proactive measures to protect lives and property across the state.
The Police also encouraged members of the public to support ongoing security efforts by relying on verified information from official channels and providing credible information whenever necessary.
