OGUN POLICE RESCUE KIDNAP VICTIM, NEUTRALIZE TWO SUSPECTS IN MAJOR ANTI-KIDNAPPING OPERATION

The Ogun State Police Command has recorded another significant victory in its' ongoing crackdown on kidnapping, securing the safe release of an abducted victim, neutralising two suspected kidnappers and recovering a cache of exhibits, including a firearm, cash and communication devices believed to be linked to criminal activities.

The breakthrough is the latest outcome of the intelligence-led security strategy being championed by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni. According to the Command, the victim was abducted on June 11th, 2026, at Ogbe Village in Ogun State, prompting an immediate response from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.

Police operatives launched a coordinated operation involving intelligence gathering, surveillance and tactical deployments aimed at rescuing the victim and tracking down the suspects. Their efforts paid off on June 18th when the victim regained freedom unharmed after sustained pressure was mounted on the criminal gang.

Rather than ending the operation there, detectives intensified efforts to bring the kidnappers to justice. Acting on fresh intelligence, operatives traced members of the gang to a hideout within the state.

Police said the suspects opened fire upon sighting the operatives in an attempt to escape. A gun battle followed, resulting in the neutralisation of two suspected kidnappers, while other gang members reportedly fled the scene with gunshot wounds.

A search of the scene led to the recovery of a single-barrel gun, one expended cartridge, a mobile phone, and a cash sum of ₦2.2 million, which investigators suspect may be proceeds of criminal activities.

The Command said efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects, while investigations continue.

Commending the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, CP Ojajuni praised the officers for their professionalism, courage, and operational effectiveness. He reaffirmed that Ogun State would remain hostile territory for kidnappers and other violent criminals, adding that intelligence-led policing and community partnerships would continue to play a key role in keeping residents safe.

The Police also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities.
