CP BODE OJAJUNI STRENGTHENS COMMUNITY SECURITY TIES IN STRATEGIC TOUR OF SAGAMU OWODE EGBA

Security, at its' most effective, is built on trust long before it is tested in moments of crisis. That philosophy shaped Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni's strategic familiarization tour of the Sagamu and Owode Egba Area Commands, where engagements with traditional rulers, local government officials, business leaders, security stakeholders and police personnel underscored a policing model driven as much by partnership as by enforcement. The carefully mapped tour reflected the Ogun State Police Command's determination to strengthen community policing, reinforce intelligence gathering and sustain peace across some of the state's most economically significant corridors.

In a statement released by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the visit forms part of the Command's broader strategy of deepening collaboration with critical stakeholders at the grassroots while reinforcing public confidence in law enforcement. The initiative, according to the statement, highlights the Command's commitment to inclusive policing, stronger institutional partnerships and a proactive security architecture capable of responding effectively to emerging challenges across Ogun State.

Accompanied by members of the Command Management Team and the Ogun State Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Comrade Lawal Abdullahi, the Commissioner began the tour at the palace of the Akarigbo of Remoland, His Royal Majesty Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, CFR, Torungbuwa II. The visit celebrated the enduring partnership between the traditional institution and the police, while reaffirming the importance of royal leadership in promoting peace, intelligence sharing and community stability.

The engagement then shifted to the Sagamu Area Command, where CP Ojajuni met with community leaders, members of the Ogun State Hunters Association and police officers. Despite heavy rainfall, stakeholders turned out in large numbers, reflecting the growing collaboration between residents and security agencies. The Commissioner acknowledged the contributions of local hunters and community stakeholders to intelligence gathering while commending officers for their professionalism, particularly during the recent cross-border Lagos-Ogun security operation known as Operation Kosaye, which continues to strengthen surveillance along key transit routes.

A symbolic highlight of the visit followed at the Sagamu Divisional Headquarters, where the Commissioner commissioned a newly renovated divisional office. The event drew the participation of retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Peter Babatunde Ogunyanwo alongside representatives of Lafarge Sagamu, whose investment in police infrastructure through corporate social responsibility was recognised as an example of productive collaboration between private enterprise and public security.

The tour continued into the industrial heartland of Owode Egba, where the Commissioner paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Ambassador Adesina Ogunshola Lanre, FCPA, and members of his administration. Discussions centred on the strategic importance of the area as Ogun State's largest Area Command and one of its' busiest commercial and manufacturing zones. The Commissioner highlighted the sustained impact of Operation Kosaye in curbing cross-border criminality while reaffirming the Command's commitment to protecting lives, investments and critical infrastructure.

At the Owode Egba Area Command Headquarters, CP Ojajuni was welcomed by traditional rulers, community representatives, officers and heads of sister security agencies. The gathering reflected the strong inter-agency cooperation that has become a defining feature of security management within the axis. The Commissioner emphasised that sustained collaboration between communities, security institutions and local leadership remains the most reliable safeguard against organised crime and other emerging threats.

The strategic tour concluded at the TGI Industrial Complex near the Sagamu Interchange, home to major subsidiaries including WACUB, WASIL and WACOT. During discussions with the company's management, attention turned to the close relationship between economic opportunity and public safety. The Commissioner acknowledged the role of responsible corporate investment and employment creation in reducing crime while recognising the company's contributions to community development and security support.
