The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has applauded the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu's efforts to strengthen strategic communication within the Nigeria Police Force, describing the initiative as a critical step toward improving public confidence and institutional professionalism.
Ojajuni made the remarks after completing the Executive Training Programme for Commissioners of Police, a leadership development initiative designed to equip senior officers with advanced skills in strategic communication, media relations, thought leadership, emotional intelligence, public relations and service excellence. The programme forms part of the Inspector-General's broader reform agenda aimed at fostering a more professional, people-centred and accountable police force.
The training was coordinated by the Department of Training and Development under the leadership of Deputy Inspector-General of Police Isyaku Mohammed, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Public Relations School led by retired Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ojukwu. The programme concluded with the induction of participants into the Institute of Conflict Management and Negotiation Analysts (ICMNA).
Ojajuni described the training as a strategic investment in leadership development, noting that effective communication has become an indispensable tool in modern policing. He stressed that strengthening the capacity of police leaders to engage the public, shape narratives and communicate with transparency would enhance public trust and reinforce the Force's commitment to service delivery.
He said the knowledge and experience gained during the programme would further strengthen policing in Ogun State by promoting more responsive leadership, deeper community engagement and improved communication with residents. The commissioner reaffirmed the command's commitment to implementing the lessons from the training in support of the Inspector-General's vision of a modern, professional and citizen-focused Nigeria Police Force.
