FOB FORMOSO REWARDS EXCELLENCE, CELEBRATES SECOND QUARTER BIRTHDAYS FOR PERSONNEL

In a show of appreciation for dedication and service, the Forward Operating Base (FOB) FORMOSO brought together its' officers, ratings, and civilian staff on Friday, July 17, 2026, for a Run Ashore and Second Quarter Birthday Celebration, an initiative designed to strengthen morale, foster unity and recognize outstanding performance.

The gathering, held in line with the directive of the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), reflected the Nigerian Navy's continued emphasis on personnel welfare as a key driver of operational effectiveness.
The event celebrated officers, ratings and civilian staff born between the months of April and June, while also recognizing exceptional commitment to duty through the presentation of awards to the Best Rating and Best Civilian Staff of the Month.

Beyond the awards and birthday celebrations, the occasion created an informal atmosphere where personnel across different departments interacted freely, strengthening teamwork and reinforcing the spirit of camaraderie that underpins the Base's operations.
Addressing the gathering, the Commanding Officer, FOB FORMOSO, Capt SK Haruna, commended the officers, ratings and civilian staff for their unwavering dedication, professionalism and commitment to duty.
He said the event forms part of the Chief of the Naval Staff's deliberate efforts to improve personnel welfare, reward excellence and create a more conducive and efficient working environment across the Nigerian Navy.

Capt SK Haruna reminded personnel that diligence and commitment never go unnoticed, noting that recognizing exemplary service inspires others to strive for higher standards of professionalism and excellence.
He congratulated the award recipients and birthday celebrants, urging all personnel to remain steadfast in the discharge of their responsibilities and continue contributing to the operational success of FOB FORMOSO.

The Run Ashore celebration underscored the Navy's growing focus on building not only a capable fighting force but also a motivated workforce, where recognition, teamwork and welfare remain central to achieving mission success.
