OGUN POLICE INTENSIFY OPERATION KOSAYE, RECORD MAJOR ARRESTS ACROSS THE STATE

The Ogun State Police Command has widened its' crackdown on criminal networks, recording another string of operational successes under Operation Kosaye, the intelligence driven security initiative that has become central to the state's crime-fighting strategy. From illegal petroleum dealings and infrastructure vandalism to burglary, vehicle theft and child protection, coordinated police operations across several divisions led to the arrest of 16 suspects and the recovery of stolen vehicles, petroleum products and other exhibits linked to criminal activity.

According to a statement released by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the latest operations reflect the Command's sustained commitment to intelligence-led policing, swift tactical intervention and forensic investigation in line with the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police. The statement noted that the successes further reinforce the growing impact of Operation Kosaye, which continues to dismantle criminal networks while protecting lives, property and critical national infrastructure across Ogun State.

One of the most significant operations targeted a suspected diesel bunkering syndicate operating in Abule-Iroko, Sango. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit arrested a suspect and recovered four drums of suspected Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), 13 jerry cans filled with suspected diesel, a pumping machine and a generator allegedly used in the illegal operation. Detectives have since expanded investigations to identify other members of the syndicate.
Elsewhere, detectives in Ota arrested two suspects accused of vandalising telecommunications infrastructure after acting on information from residents. The operation reinforced the Command's determination to protect critical national assets, with the suspects already facing prosecution.

Technology also played a decisive role in another breakthrough. In Agbado, forensic tracking of a stolen mobile phone enabled investigators to uncover a burglary ring, leading to the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of part of the stolen property. Similar investigative work in Idanyin led to the arrest of two suspects linked to a commercial burglary, while officers in Ajuwon recovered a stolen motorcycle and apprehended the alleged thief after weeks of investigation.
The Command also responded to crimes against vulnerable members of society. Detectives in Agbado arrested a 50-year-old suspect over allegations of defiling an 11-year-old girl. The victim received immediate medical attention, while the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

Operation Kosaye's reach extended to the highways as well. In Ijebu Imushin, police foiled the hijacking of a mini truck transporting aluminium materials after responding swiftly to intelligence. The suspects fled into a nearby forest, abandoning the vehicle, which was recovered and returned to its' owner. Officers in Atan Ijebu also recovered an abandoned vehicle and carried out separate operations that resulted in the arrest of five burglary suspects, with stolen clothing, household items and other valuables recovered.
The latest wave of arrests illustrates the increasingly broad scope of Operation Kosaye. Beyond targeting violent criminals, the initiative has expanded to confront organised theft, vandalism, illegal fuel operations, property crimes and offences against children through a blend of intelligence gathering, forensic investigation, community collaboration and rapid tactical deployment.

As the operation gathers momentum, the Ogun State Police Command says it will continue to sustain visibility patrols, strengthen forensic capabilities and deepen partnerships with residents to deny criminals safe operating spaces across the state.
