AT EPHPHATHA 2026, OGUN POLICE PUSH CHARACTER OVER CRIMINALITY

The Ogun State Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) brought its' prevention message to hundreds of teenagers and young adults at the Royal Ambassador Ogun Baptist Conference, Ephphatha 2026.

In a statement released by the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, the engagement, led by the POCACOV State Coordinator, was designed to equip young people with the awareness and resilience needed to resist cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime, gang violence and other social vices.

The interactive session moved beyond warnings, examining how seemingly casual choices can acquire lasting consequences. Participants were encouraged to embrace self-discipline, responsible friendships, personal accountability and constructive leadership as safeguards against criminal influence.

POCACOV also placed the youths at the centre of the security conversation, stressing that safer schools and communities are not built by security agencies alone. Young people, the campaign emphasised, have a decisive role in shaping the culture around them and determining what behaviour gains social acceptance.

The programme ended with participants pledging to reject criminal influences and serve as anti-vice ambassadors in their schools and communities.
