CRACKDOWN ON ABEOKUTA ONE- CHANCE SYNDICATE  AS TWO MEMBERS ARRESTED

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a one-chance robbery syndicate accused of targeting commuters across the Abeokuta metropolis.

According to a statement released by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the suspects, Bidemi Tijani, 29, and Olajide Rasaq, 42, were arrested on August 15 by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) following actionable intelligence on the activities of the syndicate.
The suspects were reportedly sighted in a taxi heading towards Ita-Oshin, prompting police operatives to launch a pursuit. The vehicle was eventually intercepted after a high-speed chase, leading to their arrest.

The Police said preliminary investigation showed that the suspects allegedly posed as commercial taxi operators to lure unsuspecting passengers before dispossessing them of phones, cash and other valuables. The Command said both men admitted during interrogation to being members of the syndicate.
Investigators are continuing efforts to arrest other suspected members, establish the extent of the group’s operations and recover additional exhibits.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni commended the VCRU for its' swift response and tactical execution, reiterating the Command’s determination to disrupt criminal networks across Ogun State.
