OGUN POLICE ALIGN MEDICAL SERVICES WITH NEW FORCE HEALTHCARE FRAMEWORK

The Ogun State Police Command has hosted the pioneer Director of Force Medical Services, AIG Nkechi Eze, during a working visit focused on improving medical care and personnel welfare, as healthcare is increasingly becoming part of the Nigeria Police Force’s operational conversation.

In a statement released by the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, AIG Eze visited the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, to inspect police health facilities and assess infrastructure requiring upgrades as the newly elevated Force Medical Services Directorate strengthens healthcare delivery nationwide.

The visit also spotlighted preventive healthcare. AIG Eze urged police personnel to take greater responsibility for their wellbeing through routine blood pressure and glucose checks, other essential screenings and enrolment in compulsory health insurance schemes, particularly given the physical demands of police work. The Directorate's Know Your Numbers campaign was highlighted as part of the push toward early detection and prevention.

Receiving the delegation, The State's Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, acknowledged the contribution of medical personnel to police operations, particularly during field engagements under Operation Kọ̀saye. He also stressed the value of making police medical facilities accessible to members of the public, describing the approach as a form of corporate social responsibility capable of strengthening police-community relations.

The engagement ended with an inspection of the Command's medical facilities and a group photograph, marking another step toward integrating personnel welfare with the operational machinery of policing in Ogun State.
