OGUN POLICE TRACE SUSPECTED ROBBERS, RECOVER THREE PISTOLS

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of an armed robbery and carjacking syndicate and recovered three locally made pistols and 18 live cartridges in a follow-up investigation linked to a robbery case reported in April.

According to a statement released by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the suspects, Adeyinka Onakomaya, 46, and Olayiwola Kehinde, 48, were tracked to separate hideouts in the Babaode area of Ota and the Command area of Lagos State after detectives pursued leads from the earlier recovery of a stolen red Toyota Matrix.
The investigation allegedly linked the two men and other members of their group to armed robberies and vehicle snatching across Ota, Iju, Babaode and Atan. Police said the suspects provided information during interrogation that is helping detectives pursue other members of the alleged syndicate.

The recovery of the firearms and ammunition has added a significant dimension to the investigation, as police intensify efforts to identify and arrest fleeing suspects and determine the wider reach of the criminal network.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the Anti-Robbery Team for sustaining the investigation beyond the initial vehicle recovery, describing the arrests and weapons recovery as evidence of the Command’s determination to follow criminal cases through to their logical conclusion.
The Police Command said it would continue to target armed robbery networks through intelligence-led operations and follow-up investigations, while urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements and activities.
