A motorist’s suspicion about a tricycle carrying a motorcycle and generator along the Onigbedu–Itori Road led to a police interception and the arrest of a suspected thief in Itori, Ogun State, on Sunday.

The Ogun State Police Command said the incident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on October 25, when the motorist spotted an unregistered tricycle conveying a grey Haojue Lady motorcycle and a Firman generator, with two occupants on board. He alerted the police while following the vehicle towards Papalanto through Complex Junction, Itori.

Operatives of the Ewekoro Division intercepted the tricycle, but both occupants attempted to escape. Officers apprehended one of them, identified as Adam Muhammed, after a chase, while the second suspect remains at large.

Preliminary investigations have linked the recovered motorcycle and generator to a theft reported in Itori. Muhammed remains in custody as detectives investigate the incident and pursue the fleeing suspect.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni commended the officers for their swift response and the motorist for alerting the authorities. He urged residents to report suspicious movements promptly, noting that timely information can help police prevent crime and recover stolen property.

The Command said it would sustain patrols and intelligence-led operations to protect residents and property across Ogun State.
