A workplace disagreement over an ordinary cleaning task turned fatal in Alagbole, Ogun State, leaving a 26-year-old butcher dead and his 21-year-old colleague in police custody.

The Ogun State Police Command identified the suspect as Selim Ayodele and the deceased as Ibrahim Wasiu. The incident occurred on October 18, 2026, at a cow meat selling outlet where the two men worked. Police said the suspect was arrested after the incident was reported at Ajuwon Police Station at about 8 p.m.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the disagreement began after the pair had finished work and centred on sweeping the floor. During the altercation, Ayodele allegedly stabbed Wasiu in the left side of his chest with a knife. The victim was taken to Life Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

His remains were subsequently deposited at Life Channel Private Mortuary in Lanbe, Ajuwon, for an autopsy.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigators prepare the case for prosecution. Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to investigating violent incidents and pursuing the lawful prosecution of suspects. He also urged residents to exercise restraint during disagreements and report criminal incidents promptly.

The police investigation will determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal confrontation as the case proceeds towards prosecution.
