The Ogun State Police Command has endorsed a student-led conference at Gateway (ICT) Polytechnic, Saapade, bringing campus security, leadership and personal development into the same conversation ahead of the event on Friday.

In a statement released by the DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, Eleweran, Abeokuta, the command said it was supporting the SWAT 1.0 Students’ Conference organized by the institution’s Students’ Union Government. The programme is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Leadership Auditorium.

SWAT, which stands for Security, Welfare, Academics, Training and Seminar, is designed to give students practical guidance on navigating campus life while building leadership skills, responsible habits and a clearer sense of purpose.

Security will occupy a central place in the conference, creating space for students and police representatives to discuss vigilance, peaceful coexistence, responsible behaviour and the role young people can play in keeping their academic environment safe.

The command commended the SUG President and convener, Comr. Akinpelu B. Timothy, and his executive team for putting the programme together. It said support for student-focused initiatives remains part of its' effort to strengthen police-student relations and encourage safer learning environments across Ogun tertiary institutions.
