The Ogun State Police Command has recovered a stolen, unregistered Lexus ES350 saloon car in Ondo State following weeks of intelligence gathering and investigative work linked to an armed robbery in Ogijo.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, said in a statement on October 30 that the vehicle was snatched by suspected armed robbers at about 2 a.m. on September 15. The red Lexus had no registration number when it was reported stolen.
Following the report, the Officer-in-Charge of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Squad, SP Obeh Eneye, directed operatives to investigate the incident, pursue available leads and identify those responsible.
The investigation eventually led officers to the vehicle in Ondo State, from where it was recovered and transported to the Ogun State Police Command. Police said efforts were continuing to arrest other suspects linked to the robbery and recover any additional stolen property.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the SWAT team for its' persistence and professionalism, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led operations and the recovery of stolen property.
He also urged vehicle owners to register their vehicles and display valid number plates, noting that proper identification helps police verify ownership and trace stolen cars. Residents were encouraged to report suspicious activities and provide credible information to assist investigations.
