NDLEA TARGETS DRUG CARTEL'S FINANCES, SEEKS FOUR SUSPECTS IN MULTI-BILLION-NAIRA METH CASE

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has escalated its' offensive against organized drug trafficking by declaring an alleged drug kingpin and three associates wanted while freezing nearly ₦9.84 billion linked to a methamphetamine production syndicate and securing court-approved forfeiture of multiple high-value assets.

In a statement released by the Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the Agency said the operation underscores the commitment of the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) to dismantling drug trafficking networks by targeting both their operations and the financial structures that sustain them.
The wanted suspects are Nnamuka Kelvin Uchenna, also known as Odogwu, Emmanuella Chinonso Iroka, Nnamuka Ifeanyi Kingsley, and Ekechi Franklin Chijioke, also known as Ekene Okwunaga. They were declared wanted following an order by Justice Iniekenimi Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Owerri, Imo State, after an application filed by the NDLEA in Suit No. FHC/OW/CS/22/2026 on July 3, 2026.
The case stems from the discovery of a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory at Isiozi, Umuaka, in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State, where NDLEA operatives recovered 18.4 kilograms of methamphetamine and other production materials during a raid on February 25, 2026. Investigations subsequently identified the four suspects as key members of the syndicate, who have remained at large since the operation.

Through forensic financial investigations, NDLEA traced and froze bank accounts linked to the suspects with a combined balance of ₦9,840,873,566.66. The Agency also secured interim forfeiture orders covering assets believed to be proceeds of illicit drug trafficking, including a fuel station, multi-storey residential buildings, and four Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) bearing registration numbers RLU 148 AJ, KJA 563 FZ, BWR 249 DY, and FST 208 HU.

Marwa described the development as a significant milestone in the Agency's strategy to disrupt criminal enterprises by dismantling their financial infrastructure. He noted that the operation demonstrates NDLEA's increasing use of forensic intelligence to identify, trace and recover assets linked to drug trafficking while ensuring those responsible are brought to justice.
The NDLEA Chairman also appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist in locating the fleeing suspects, reaffirming the Agency's determination to eliminate drug trafficking networks and protect communities from the social and economic consequences of illicit narcotics.
