NDLEA ARRESTS 101-YEAR-OLD WOMAN, UNCOVERS NEW THAI CANNABIS ROUTE By Jennifer Nwosu The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has made major drug seizures across Nigeria, including the arrest of a 101-year-old woman for alleged cannabis dealing, the interception of cocaine concealed in edible cassava flour and the seizure of more than N4.4 billion worth of synthetic cannabis at the Apapa and Lekki ports in Lagos. The fraudsters are using the name of the Agency’s Secretary, Barrister Shadrach Haruna, in fake private letters and messages to lure unsuspecting members of the public. NDLEA said the offers are a complete scam designed to defraud people of their money and stressed that no official has the mandate to privately offer, allocate or sell seized or forfeited assets to individuals.
