The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arraigned luxury goods dealer and lifestyle influencer Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as KC Luxury, and two alleged accomplices over a 184.5kg cocaine shipment destined for the United Kingdom.
In a statement released Friday by the Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA said Afolabi, Boniface Freeman Ochoche Sule and Ikechukwu Ekugo Patriarch were arraigned before Hon. Justice Ayokunle Olayinka Faji of the Federal High Court, Lagos, on a 22-count charge involving cocaine trafficking, illegal export of narcotics and money laundering. The defendants pleaded not guilty to all counts.
The charge sheet, marked FHC/LAG/CR/755/2026, alleges that the three defendants conspired between July 28 and Aug. 1, 2026, to export 184.5kg of cocaine through a Lagos-based courier logistics company to London. The five consignments carried Airway Bill Numbers 2079998314, 8224082370, 2079973571, 7181131742 and 2211893902, under the shipper's name Yemi Ejide.
The case also names Atandare Oladipupo Oluwarotimi and Latifat Yusuf, who have been arrested in London in connection with the same investigation. The NDLEA alleges that Boniface recruited Ikechukwu to facilitate the shipment, while Afolabi allegedly secured the assistance of a BOT Express Logistics employee on Lagos Island to process the consignment.
Investigators further allege that Afolabi paid N13.2 million from a Mallamawa Ventures Zenith Bank account to BOT Express Logistics for the shipment. Sixteen additional counts accuse him of laundering several billions of naira through companies and personal accounts, including Mallamawa Ventures, Fateey Man Multi-Purpose Nig. Ltd, Patonifa Ltd, Ade-Lak Resources, Holmestas Global Services Limited and La Capital Enterprises.
The NDLEA alleges that the funds were used, among other purposes, to acquire motor vehicles and landed properties while concealing the proceeds of the alleged drug trade. Afolabi is also accused of failing to declare his assets to the agency as required by law.
After the defendants entered not-guilty pleas, NDLEA prosecutor Abu Ibrahim opposed their bail applications and requested that they be remanded pending trial, citing the seriousness of the charges. Justice Faji ordered that the defendants be remanded in an NDLEA facility and adjourned the case until Oct. 4, 2026, for ruling on the bail applications.
Afolabi, who also used the names KayCee Luxury, KayCee Lux, KC, Mr. Luxury and Yemi Ejide, was arrested on Aug. 13 while allegedly attempting to leave Nigeria on a business-class flight to Paris from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
His arrest followed the interception of the 184.5kg cocaine consignment, estimated by the NDLEA to have a street value of about N39 billion. A subsequent search of Afolabi and his Banana Island apartment resulted in the recovery of exotic vehicles, foreign currency and jewellery suspected by investigators to be proceeds of the alleged illicit trade.
The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig. General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), has repeatedly directed the agency to pursue the financial networks behind major drug trafficking operations, including those operating through courier and logistics channels.
The latest case is now before the Federal High Court, with the defendants remaining in custody pending the court's ruling on their bail applications.
